The Talent Development Academy (TDA)

The Talent Development Academy (TDA) of Mary Help of Christians School is a training program offered to students from different grade levels who wished to develop or hone their God-given talents in the fields of Sports, Arts, Music and Dance.

More than what the SYM interest groups usually offer, TDA program serves as a venue for a more intensive training to support the new paradigm of intelligence as described by Gardner.

This program acknowledges that while all students may not be verbally or mathematically gifted, they may have an expertise in other areas, such as music, spatial relations, or interpersonal knowledge, thus, keeping with the school’s commitment of giving a holistic formation to the young.

Towards the end of the allotted training sessions, students who enrolled in music, dance, and arts will showcase their talents through recital or exhibits, and those who enrolled in sports will represent the school in any outside school competitions.

Aside from talent enhancement, the program aims to:

1. 1. Prepare each student to be able to participate fully in the competitive, recreational and leisure opportunities offered outside the school environment.
   2. Develop self-esteem and self-confidence through exposure of their talent and skills.
   3. Develop spiritual character in the sense that the students learn to use whatever gifts God has given them.
   4. Like Don Bosco’s preventive system as this serves as venue for positive discipline in the students.

The school hired highly – skilled TDA Instructors in the field of arts, music, dance, and sports. Other instructors are from among the faculty who are experts in the specific field.

TDA sessions are conducted on a Saturday, making it sure not to be in conflict with the Academic schedules.
